IDEA, Incredible? #2: Anwar is done! PKR is done!

A blogger listed on MalaysiaToday wrote that Ijok marked the demise of the Anwar factor. Lots of editors in the major newspapers like New Straits Times (NST) and Star agreed. NST even called Anwar a penjual ubat on their frontpage on Sunday. I thought it was a bit rude.
But for the anti-Anwar article, go here.
For a more pro-Anwar piece, go here.
Anwar is done? PKR is done?
What an idea! Incredible! Or incredible idea?

IDEA, Incredible? #1: VOTE-BUYING in IJOK on TAPE

the end of Barisan Nasional? they admitted that there are about 300 "pengundi luar" at just one bilik gerakan. so there are nine ballot boxes, 300 x 9 = 2,700. did PKR win the by-election? the wonders of technology.....

Idea, incredible or incredible idea?

PKR's 'crushing' defeat?

My comment on the dust settles in ijok @ reduced and recycled

not so crushing….

they failed to get indian votes. unlike lunas, chinese votes made up about 30% while indian votes about 19%. but in ijok, indian votes make up about 30% (about 3,000 votes and 60% of the votes for BN) and MIC secured these votes.

chinese and malay votes were fairly split with a shocking swing to BN in Kg Setia Jaya which was previously a PKR “stronghold” in 2004. it was also where PKR supporters blocked najib from checking the polling stations and some minor fracas broke out. malays are very polite people and do not condone “kurang ajar” behaviour, esp those living in kgs. so this may be a reason for the swing to BN. even so, the majority would have reduced by only 300-400. khalid still needed another 1,400 votes.

minus the phantom of about 1,000, that leaves about 500.

and the recounting, recounting….they were still counting the votes in nine ballot boxes at 8pm. very dodgy. maybe even more hantu there?

if you read Star’s report on Sunday, you will not that they reported the sudden influx of voters after 2pm. not sure if this was because that’s what anwar told ppl to do in his ceramahs or a case of phantom voters. the voter turnout is another record…close to 82% and like khalid said may even be 90% after adjustments.

anwar ibrahim had to lead the charge because that’s what PKR expects him to do. if he doesn’t, he would be accused of all sorts of things like wanting to rejoin UMNO. and he went ALL out to campaign.

like you said, he has a past. whether it will become a liability or not depends on how you play his cards.

malaysians, including me, are a forgiving bunch. but we are also wondering why were the attacks solely directed at najib when pak lah and son-in-law are even more controversial.

it’s also rather disgraceful that he, his wife and tian or other top leaders did not congratulate BN when they won.

PKR played the race card and miscalculated. For it was the Indian vote who were loyal to MIC that cliched the victory for BN.

Was there a deal between PKR and BN?

Votes in nine ballot boxes were STILL being counted at 8pm when the official results were to be announced.
This slow counting is suspect......But even before that, BN had a clear majority already.
Was there a deal between PKR and BN to save BN's face?
Can't help but notice the blinding absence of PKR's 'god' during nomination and polling day.
What is happening? Why is it so quiet now suddenly?
Even MalaysiaKini/'Anwarkini' seems to be taking a break after all that activity.

World Press Freedom Day - May 3

Throughout the world, 3 May serves as an occasion to inform the public of violations of the right to freedom of expression and as a reminder that many journalists brave death or jail to bring people their daily news.

This year's theme is Press Freedom, Safety of Journalists and Impunity.

“The rights to life and to liberty and integrity and security of person and also to freedom of expression are fundamental human rights that are recognized and guaranteed by international conventions and instruments.”

(UNESCO Resolution, General Conference 1997)

Labour Day

Ah, Labour Day is coming up. It falls on May 1 every year.

Is it just another holiday and a reason for Malaysians to indulge in consumeristic pursuits like enjoying a holiday, shopping or watching a movie?

As is the case for many such holidays, the actual reason that May 1 was declared a holiday is forgotten or even never known to many.

Although its origins are steeped in European history and culture including marking the first day of summer and other socialist movements, it is now known globally as International Workers' Day or Labour Day.

International Workers' Day (a name used interchangeably with May Day) is a celebration of the social and economic achievements of the international labour movement. May Day commonly sees organized street demonstrations by hundreds of thousands of working people and their labour unions throughout Europe and most of the rest of the world — though, as noted below, not in either the United States or Canada. More radical groups such as communists and anarchists are also given to widespread street protest on this day as well.

Enjoy the poster below from 1969....so much history on this day....and we just think it's another holiday!!!!

Where is Anwar?

KeADILan lost the recent Ijok by-election.
Where are their usually media-crazy and attention-seeking leaders -- Anwar, Azizah + Tian?
No statements so far from them except a lame one from Anwar ---> "It's a sad day for Malaysians....."
But Khalid, KeADILan's candidate, and other top leaders were absent when results were announced.
Why din they just shake the candidates hands like some other Opposition parties do even after they lost?
Where is the sportsmanship and gentlemanly behaviour that the party claims it fights for?
The party's supporters "bad behaviour" on polling day is disgraceful.
Will Malaysians vote for a party of "lawless thugs"?
